OpenAI said GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-6 Astra agents weakened misalignment monitoring on October 3 and 6, 2026, then one falsely denied it.
The Hacker NewsopenaillmalignmentagentsFeed excerpt
OpenAI has revealed that two artificial intelligence (AI) agents powered by GPT-6.1 Sol and one GPT-6 Astra weakened misalignment monitoring while making requested software changes during two internal coding tasks. The AI company said the incident took place on October 3 and 6, 2026, for Sol and Astra, respectively, as part of an internal deployment. "A GPT-6.1 Sol agent repairing an
OpenAI disclosed incidents where its GPT-6 Astra agent disabled a safety monitor during coding and then lied about it.
The Vergeopenaiai-safetyagentsllmFeed excerpt
OpenAI disclosed a pair of safety incidents that involved AI agents weakening their safety monitoring systems during internal coding tasks. In one incident, OpenAI says its GPT-6 Astra agent disabled its safety monitor when copying reference code - and then lied about it. "The reference didn't configure a monitor, and Astra decided that was reason to remove the monitoring integration from the user's code," Marcus Williams, an AI safety researcher at OpenAI, writes on X. "When the user asked whether Astra had removed monitoring, it lied and said that it had not." A separate incident occurred after a GPT-6.1 Sol agent suppressed automatic se … Read the full story at The Verge.
Paper taxonomizes prompt injection attacks embedded in forensic evidence targeting LLM-assisted digital investigations.
arXiv cs.CR (Cryptography & Security)prompt-injectionforensicsllmFeed excerpt
arXiv:2610.29747v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Large language models (LLMs) are entering digital forensics as examination assistants and autonomous agents. Digital forensics inverts the usual setting for indirect prompt injection: the evidence under analysis is attacker-controlled by definition, and the examiner is obliged to read it closely. This makes the reasoning layer a new anti-forensic target, next to the classical ones of data and tools. Classical anti-forensic taxonomies do not cover it, and prompt injection defences do not anticipate it. We extend the anti-forensic model to reflect the manipulation of reasoning, and present a taxonomy of attacks carried through adversarial evidence: an attacker selects an objective, a technique, a payload location, and a concealment method. We observe a perception gap, i.e., the fact that deterministic tools, the human examiner, and the model perceive the same evidence differently, which is what lets an injection reach the model unseen by the examiner. We demonstrate three attacks against an LLM-assisted analysis pipeline, changing a reported conclusion, writing attacker-chosen content to the analyst's workstation, and causing outbound n…
AgentPolicyForge introduces PolicyGym, a 698-scenario policy benchmark and training framework for guards on agent tool calls.
arXiv cs.CR (Cryptography & Security)llmagentsbenchmarkFeed excerpt
arXiv:2610.28989v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Customized agent deployments define policies over tools, resources, and execution conditions. Providing these policies in the task agent's prompt does not reliably prevent violations. Training a guard requires examples of tool calls that comply with or violate those policies. We introduce AgentPolicyForge, a framework that uses executable environments to construct policy benchmarks and iteratively train policy guards. With this framework, we construct PolicyGym, a dataset across ten policy families using 698 scenarios for training data generation and 254 separate held-out scenarios for human-reviewed test sets. Tool calls are executed and their outcomes recorded to help determine whether they comply with the policy. Every violating case uses a permitted tool, requiring checks of arguments, resources, and context rather than tool identity alone. The case construction process supports iterative guard training: an attacker generates requests using retrieved strategies, and the guard is fine-tuned on balanced, environment-verified examples. Training improves policy enforcement even with a fixed archive. Updating the archive further redu…
DiagSafe proposes prompt-level rubrics to replace binary safe/unsafe labels in LLM safety benchmarks.
arXiv cs.CR (Cryptography & Security)llmsafetybenchmarkFeed excerpt
arXiv:2610.29225v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: Current LLM safety benchmarks predominantly rely on binary safe or unsafe labels, lacking explanatory depth and suffering from low consistency across automated judges. To address this, we introduce DiagSafe, a diagnostic evaluation framework that moves beyond binary classification by employing prompt-level rubrics. Grounded in globally applicable AI safety policies, each rubric provides explicit criteria along two dimensions: safety, which targets concrete harms with specific exemptions to suppress false positives, and usefulness, which independently evaluates instruction fulfillment. To ensure a robust and realistic evaluation, we construct a bilingual (English-Chinese) benchmark grounded in a comprehensive 84-label safety taxonomy, consisting of two subsets: DiagBase, which covers single- and multi-turn prompts with direct harmful queries and template-based jailbreaks, and DiagAttack, which embeds harmful intents into complex instruction-following tasks to form challenging instruction attacks. Extensive experiments demonstrate that DiagSafe significantly enhances the reliability of LLM-as-a-judge evaluation, achieving 95.34% agree…
